Comelico's dervisci / I dervisci del Comelico

The protagonists of the Carnival in Comelico Superiore Valley (BL) is the mask of Matazin that represents the Herald and the Beauty. It represents health and abundance. His suit is richly decorated ant it's very elegant. The characteristic head covering is made of a velvet high cylinder of bright color covered with numerous pearls and jewels. Its weight is high and it entails a remarkable commitment for the person that is wearing it. The Matazin in fact cannot stay still and is obliged to constantly jig and dance. The most significant moment of the dance is the jump, the higher and the more elegant the more of a good omen. The Matazin is a symbol of the sacred and it must be used carefully. Its use outside the Carnival is of a bad omen , a fate challenge. The Matazera is the exact opposite of Matazin: it is the Herald but the Ugliness. The clothing is is similar but realized with poor quality materials. The head covering is decorated with nuts, chestnut and peanuts. The precious decorations are replaced with potatoes, chestnuts and buttons necklaces. The Mask reminds of Death , the Old Lady, the Witch.

Castelluccio of Norcia is a beautiful village high on the homonymous upland, one of the largest of central Italy, in the hearth of the Sibillini Mountains Park. At the end of May and during the first days of July the upland of Castelluccio witnesses a particular event: the bloom. For a lot of weeks the chromatic monotony of the grassland is interrupted by a mosaic of colors from ocher yellow to red to violet. The most typical product of the village is the lentil, one of the best quality in Italy, characteristic for its different nuances of color. Castelluccio is a place where fairy tales, legends, traditions and reality blend with a unique nature. A starting point to visit Castelluccio, but also Ascoli and other beautiful villages of the plain of Marche is the Nascondiglio di Bacco (Bacchus hiding place), a very pleasant farm-vacation managed by Raffaele and Dwight where we felt very comfortable. Eating is not a problem: everywhere you may find good dishes at fair prices!

The song of wandering Aengus / La canzone di Aengus il vagabondo

Castelluccio is a dreamy place that reminded us a dreamy song: The song of wandering Aegus. The original version has words by W.B.Yeats and music of Donovan Leitch. Our proposal is by Angelo Branduardi (Cuggiono, Milano 12 febbraio 1950) a popular Italian singer who published in 1986 "Branduardi sings Yeats"

We are always looking for love
we keep wandering
we get old seeking
But a dream always accompanies us
will we find it in our last dream …?

THE SONG OF WANDERING AENGUS
By: W.B. Yeats
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;

And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Siamo sempre alla ricerca dell'amore...
Continuiamo a vagabondare cercando...
Diventiamo vecchi nel cercare...
Ma un sogno ci accompagna sempre...
Lo ritroveremo nell'ultimo sogno...?
